The Septage Treatment Plant of San Jose Del Monte City Water District will undergo improvement amounting to PhP 14Million to comply with the parameters on phosphate and nitrate prescribed by DENR DAO 2021-19 (Updated Water Quality Guidelines and General Effluent Standards for Selected Parameters).

The first 60 cum-capacity of the SpTP of San Jose Water was completed in 2015. It was expanded to accommodate a maximum of 120 cum in 2019. At that time, phosphate and nitrate were not included in the DENR parameters.

San Jose Water is one of the few water districts that have complied with the requirements of Clean Water Act and the continuing mandamus issued by the Supreme Court for the rehabilitation of Manila Bay. The operation and maintenance of the SpTP was turned over to Primewater Infrastructure Corporation (PWIC) when San Jose Water entered into a Joint Venture Agreement with PWIC in 2018. The Comprehensive Septage Management Program of San Jose Water/Primewater has already completed the first five years and is now on the second year of the second cycle. From April 2015 up to December 2022, the septage program has already desludged 135,767 households.
